MARQUIS, the name of the luxury boutique hotel, is a tribute to the marquis de La Fayette.

Antoine Mazin has built in Paris from 1720 to 1730 three prestigious private mansions: the hôtel de Charost which has been the official residence of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom since 1814, the hôtel Matignon which has been the official residence of the Prime Minister of France since 1935 and his own private mansion located at 8 rue d’Anjou. Those private mansions have in common exquisite mascaron ornaments of rare beauty used as decorative elements. Above the carriage entrance located at 8 rue d’Anjou, the mascaron ornament portrays the God of shepherds. It is framed by two graceful lanterns.
